
Reservations Q. When are dinners offered? A. Dinners are offered on Friday and Saturday evenings, mid-March to early December. All dinners must be reserved well in advance. Please select one person from your party to arrange all details with Simone. It starts with an initial telephone call, or preferably, an email message. Q. How many guests may come for a private dinner? A. A minimum of 8 adult guests is required at any time; the maximum is 16 in the cold months, when dinners are served in the dining room, and 20 in Summer and Fall when dinners are served under the screened porch. The organizer may make a reservation for a minimum of 8 guests; if you're not sure of the total number in your party, give Simone your best estimate but this must be finalized one week in advance. Q. When will I know my date/booking is secured? Will there be any further exchanges with Simone prior to the dinner date? A. By all means, stay in touch with Simone. Once a reservation is made by telephone or email, it needs to be confirmed with a deposit (see Policies, below). You will receive an acknowledgement by email when your deposit has been received. Simone will work with you when planning the menu. A detailed map with directions to Plain and Simple is available upon request. Dinner guests are asked to to choose a definite time of arrival between 6:30 and 7 PM. All guests are expected to leave around 10:30 PM. Q. How long in advance should I book a dinner? A. It's never too early to reserve a date. You can book for the following year before the end of the current season. For early spring it is advised to book 2 months in advance, later on 3 to 5 months; by August only a few or none of the last weekends (November and early December) are usually available. Q. Should I contact Simone if I am interested in a date only a few weeks away? A. By all means try your luck. Cancellations are rare but happen. Q. Can I be on a waiting list? A. Yes, specify all dates of interest to you. You will be notified if a date reopens. Booking and Confirmations You can book your dinner online with a credit card or you can mail a check written to Simone's Plain and Simple. There is no longer a discount for check payments. In both cases act promptly after your reservation has been confirmed by an email or telephone call directly from Simone.
Deposit and Cancellation Policy For private dinners, a deposit for the price of 8 dinners is required and should be mailed or sent electronically to Simone's Plain and Simple shortly after reservations are made. For cancellations made 4 weeks or less before a reserved date, 40% of the deposit is nonrefundable. Special Menu Considerations The same menu is served to all dinner guests; however, vegetarians or people with special dietary needs can usually be accommodated with sufficient advance notice. Beverages Guests who enjoy the pairing of fine food with wine or beer may bring their favorite drink to accompany dinner. I only serve water. It is suggested that at the end of the evening a volunteer in each group be delegated to take home empty bottles for recycling. |
